A. Free Play (Mix Group)

Children will play outdoors. Teacher will monitor and observe their activities and play. It will be indoor play time in case of the rainy season or any other circumstances. Teacher will not guide them with what to play with and how to play. She will take care of safety and causations. She can ask to make a line or wait for turn to come.

The teacher shows and say the words for different parts of a house. She will also ask children to repeat the words with her and also show that same object in the class.
For e.g., door – then children will say the word door and point at the classroom door, wall, roof, windows, floor etc. The teacher talks about the paint on the walls in the class and tell the colour of the walls in her house.

The teacher shows and say the words for different rooms of a house – Bedroom, kitchen, bathroom, living room. She will also ask children to repeat the words with her.The teacher talks about the paint on the walls in the class and tell the colour of the walls in her house. She asks them in which room do they see a fridge, in which room do they see sofa, in which room do they see bed, in which room do they see bucket and soap (refer Picture Book). Teacher waits for the reply and after few seconds says the name of the room herself.
Materials required: Magazines and newspaper for pictures of house.

Material required: Things from the kitchen – rolling pin, pan, spoons – big and small, bowl, basket, plate, cup and saucer, plate, glass, etc (Teacher may arrange for these real things a day before).
Also show pictures of things in the kitchen.

Pretend Play – Cook Food
Teacher and children pretend play to prepare food. Children can mix the material with water and stir it, pour it, scoop it.Care has to be taken that none of the child puts things in

Material required: Jars, spatulas, bowls, tubs, flowers, leaves, peels, some vegetables, sugar, colours etc.

Do they like to sleep on the soft pillow? Do they like to keep soft stuffed toys on their bed while sleeping or playing with it?
The teacher asks some children to find soft things in the class and bring them to her.
Material required:
Show pictures of things in the bedroom.
Some soft things to be kept in the class at different places from before – stuffed toys, pillows, cushions, soft sponge balls, sponge, and other soft items that can be brought the previous day.

She will ask children when they take bath – in the morning or in the night. Who helps them to take bath? How do they feel after taking bath?
Teacher shows the picture of things used in the bathroom and tells their names. Children repeat the names after her.

Huff and Puff with straw
Children are given one part of a drinking straw. The teacher first practices how to blow air through the straw and then children explore the things that move by huffing and puffing.
Material required: thick drinking straws cut into halves, stones, dry grass, hay, pom poms, dry leaves, pebbles, sticks etc.

Do they help their father or mother in some activity? Do they watch TV together sometime, read story, or listen to songs, set tables, talk, go to garden or meet their friends together? All the activities done with family makes us happy.

Big and small things in the house
Teacher tells that in her house she has a small chair and a small pillow. The bed and sofa in her house are very big.
The pillow and sofa are very soft. The chair is hard. The bed is hard but the mattress is very soft.
She takes care of the things in her house.
Teacher asks children to share the things that are small in the house. Each child says the things they feel are small in their house.
Then teacher asks about the big things in their house. Accept the answers given by the children.

Soapy water Bubbles
Children and teacher use the straws to make bubbles from the soapy water. Children also do the washing of some plastic/ metal plates, spoons, jars, bottles, dolls etc.
Material required: Drinking straws, liquid soap water, scrubbers, toothbrushes, big tubs for soapy water for washing, big bowls for soapy water.
HW Activity Book–Cotton pasting – Stick soft cotton on the pillow worksheet. Parents talk and show to their child the soft and hard things in the house.
