Toddler Week 11 Activities

A. Free Play (Mix Group)

Total Time 20 Min.

Children will play outdoors. Teacher will monitor and observe their activities and play. It will be indoor play time in case of the rainy season or any other circumstances. Teacher will not guide them with what to play with and how to play. She will take care of safety and causations. She can ask to make a line or wait for turn to come.

B. Circle Time (Whole Group)

(10 min.)

  1. Teacher will wear the hand puppet of a doctor and then she will say, “You come to me when you are ill. I check you and give you medicine. You see me at a clinic or in a hospital. Who am I?
  2. She will allow the children to think and answer. Then give the answer I am a doctor. She will show the picture of a doctor. A doctor sees why you are ill and gives you medicines so that you become fit.
  3. Teacher will show the things used by the doctor.

The teacher will do an activity. The teacher will clap and say one, two, and three. She will also make the children clap. Then she will clap one and say one nose, again she will clap one and say one nose, one tongue, one face and so on.

The teacher will clap two times and say 2 eyes, 2 ears, 2 hands,

2 legs. Then she will make children repeat with her.

She will show the pictures of 2 eyes, 2 ears, 2 hands 2 legs to the children.

The teacher will say the name of an object and ask one child to pick up the card and show it to the rest of the children. For e.g., a cat – the child will pick up the flashcard and show it to the teacher and other children.

Putting Straws in bottle

Big blocks: They will join 2 blocks of same colour. The children will find out 2 blocks of the same colour and join them or put one on the other.

Plastic chain links: The teacher will show the material to

children and demonstrate how to linksquares with squares and circles with circles, triangles with triangles. She will also say that ‘I am joining circle with a circle and then another circle.’ She will specifically name the shapes while demonstrating. The children will make plastic chain links within given time.

Material required:big blocks, plastic links – square, circle, triangle

Pretend Play

Topic: Dress up like Mommy or Pappa

Teacher keeps all the objects on a table. Kids take their own time to dress up. The teacher keeps praising their efforts. Kids are asked where do they plan to go after getting dressed, they say few sentences mother or father say regularly, they walk like their parent, talk on phone like mother or father talk with their friend.

Material required:

  • Things to dress up like Mommy – bindi, dupatta, necklace, bangles, watch, sandals, purse, goggles, earrings
  • Things to dress up like Papa – goggles, tie, watch, purse, office bag, other particular things used by particular father

The person who teaches children in a school is called a teacher.

Point at various things in the classroom and ask the children to name the things she uses.

Pen, chalk, board, register, book etc.

She will then tell her name and say that I am your teacher. For e.g. I am Nisha and I am your teacher.

Green grocer: Green grocer sells fresh fruits and vegetables.

Next, the teacher will show the flashcards one by one to the children and ask them to identify the helpers.

Material required:

Flash cards of doctor, driver, maid, green grocer and teacher.

Opening the Bottles Caps

The teacher will demonstrate the activity.

She will hold a bottle in the tray between her left palm and fingers and open.

She tells students ‘I use my fingers and palm to open the cap of the bottle’

She will then roll the cap between her fingers.

She tells students ‘I will keep on rolling the cap till it comes out and the bottle opens.’

After this demonstration she will give bottles to each student and ask them to follow her as she performs the same activity again slowly with the students.

Material required:

Small plastic bottles with cap.

She will also say that ‘I am joining circle with a circle and then one more circle.’ She will specifically name the shapes and count them while demonstrating. The children will make plastic chain links within given time.

Materials required: Circular, triangular, square objects, plastic chain links of different shapes

The teacher will call the security guard of the school in the class. She will introduce him as lets say Ram singh bhaiya. She will explain them he guards the school premises.

Similarly, in their residential societies also there are guards who work for their safety. He blows whistle while guarding. The guard will blow the whistle.

Then she will recapitulate the work of helpers discussed preiviously.

Material required:Flash card of security guard.

Note: The teacher will inform the security guard of the school to visit the class.
