A. Free Play (Mix Group)
Total Time 20 Min.
Children will play outdoors. Teacher will monitor and observe their activities and play. It will be indoor play time in case of the rainy season or any other circumstances. Teacher will not guide them with what to play with and how to play. She will take care of safety and causations. She can ask to make a line or wait for turn to come.

(10min.)The teacher will begin the conversation by saying that I live in a house and near my house there are many places where I like to go.The teacher will then saythat I went to a park yesterday. Who all go to the park to play? Who takes you to the park? What do you play?
The teacher will ask these questions to toddlers by giving her own example. My mother took me to the park. Then she will talk about other places around the house like hospital, stores, shops, market, mall, school, clinic and hospital, garden, restaurant, places of worship etc.

What do they see on the ground? She can also discuss the colours. As the book proceeds, she will relate the story with children.

Then she will also discuss about the things they see in the school/class like a blackboard, a computer, books, furniture, toys, soft boards, bags, bottles, sand pit, etc.

The teacher will make alternate circles and squares with a chalk. The children will have to hop from one circle to the other without stepping on the square. Teacher will keep a check on the distance between 2 circles as small children

The teacher will show the picture book of Nani walks to the park. She will only show the big pictures of the places and talk about different things seen in the picture of that place – buildings, market place, school, library, cinema hall, park. She will show different patterns seen in the pictures – goddhi, tiles etc.
E.g., She will ask them which play equipment’s are there in the park. She will ask them what they play in the park. What do they see on the ground? She can also discuss the colours. As the book proceeds, she will relate the story with children.

Introduce patterns: The teacher will introduce patterns with actions. Like first she will clap and then she will tap her knees. Again, she will clap and tap. She will make the children also do the same. Then she will shift to colours –red (Clap) and yellow (tap). Clap and say red and tap and say yellow. Then the teacher will arrange blocks of two colours alternately. Then she will ask which colour will come next. For e.g., teacher arranges a red block then yellow then again red and yellow. She would then ask which colour block will come next. When children say red, she will appreciate and say it forms a pattern.
Let the children make their patterns with different colours. The teacher will intervene as and when needed.

Material required: Different pictures of clinic, hospital, doctor and things used by the doctor.
Teacher will show the things used by the doctor from the Doctor’s set and also from the picture book.

Repeat patterns: The teacher will arrange blocks of two colours alternately. Then she will ask which colour will come next. For e.g., teacher arranges a blue block then green then again blue and green. She would then ask which colour block will come next. Then she will make the children do the pattern with classroom objects like pencils, crayons, chalk, books, blocks, erasers. Children will use any two objects to make ABABAB pattern.
Let the children make their patterns with different objects. The teacher will intervene as and when needed.
